Education
ˇ´ He studied philosophy in the Regional Seminary of St. Joseph in Chiughsien (1944-46) and in the Jesuitsˇ¦ philosophical institute in Manila (1941-51).
ˇ´ He completed his theological studies at Bellarmine College in Baguio in the Philippines (1952-56).
ˇ´ He undertook studies for a doctorate in spiritual theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (1959-61).

Ministries

ˇ´ Appointed Director of the Chinese Section of Sacred Heart School in Cebu City in the Philippines and worked there from 1957-59.
ˇ´ Elected President of the Catholic Schoolsˇ¦ Association in Taiwan, 1972-1976.
ˇ´ Appointed Episcopal Vicar of Taipei, 1976.
ˇ´ Elected President of the Episcopal Commission for Evangelization of the Chinese Regional Bishopsˇ¦ Conference, 1981.
ˇ´ Appointed member of the FABC Office for Social Communications, 1981.
ˇ´ Elected episcopal organizer of the celebrations for the 400th Anniversary of the arrival of Father Matteo Ricci in China, 1983.
ˇ´ Elected President of the FABC Office for Interreligious Dialogue (1983-1985).
ˇ´ Elected President of the FABC Office of Social Communications (1985-91).
ˇ´ Elected President of the Chinese Regional Bishopsˇ¦ Conference in 7 April 1987, and in the same year he was named a member of the Central Committee of the FABC in 1987.
ˇ´ Appointed President of the National Council of Churches in Taiwan in 25 January 1991.
ˇ´ He was transferred to the Diocese of Kaohsiung and was installed there on 17 June 1991.
