Letter from H.E. Msgr. John Hung Shan-Chuan, President of CRBC and Bishop of Taipei Diocese to H.E. Msgr. Piero Marini, President of the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses in the Vatican on September 28, 2011
Your Excellency,

We are glad to tell you that after working on the program for the National Eucharistic Congress over the last several months, the details have now been finalized and the definite program of our National Eucharistic Congress can be made public on our website (www.catholic.org.tw/eucharist).

Taken into account the availability of the average faithful as well as our limited human and material resources we have decided to organize a one-day National Congress, on the eve of the Solemnity Christ the King, in our Fu-Jen Catholic University (Archdiocese Taipei). However, in order to make the Eucharistic Congress truly a national event we have decided to broadcast it via Internet, so that the faithful over whole Taiwan can watch the Congress on the CRBC homepage, thus celebrating at home or at their parishes with us.

The one-day program is divided into two parts. In the morning there will be two catechetical teachings on the Holy Eucharist (respectively "Abraham and The Three Visitors (Gn 18:1-15)" and "Christ and the Emmaus Disciples (Lk 24:13-35)" according to the recommendations of the Pontifical Committee and in reference to the topics of the next International Eucharistic Congress, with moments for praying and interaction in between though. In the afternoon we will have Mass and thereafter the Eucharistic procession with 7 stations, which represent the 7 dioceses in Taiwan and the revival of the Eucharistic devotion in each one of them. During lunch time people will also have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation to prepare themselves for the liturgy.

Though the National Eucharistic Congress is a one-day event, its aim is to rekindle our love for the Holy Eucharist so that it will keep growing everyday and spreading everywhere. Therefore, those who come to the National Eucharistic Congress will also be entrusted with a spiritual mission at the end of the Congress. They will be encouraged to share their experience and to make avail of the printed material of the Congress for organizing further Eucharistic meetings (on a parish, deanery or diocesan level) when they return back to their diocese, so that the spirit of the Eucharistic congress will be kept alive.

Conscious of our limits but confident of God's mercy, allow us to recommend our humble endeavor to your prayer.
